KNUST Junior High School, Kumasi, has officially sworn in newly elected prefects, led by Head Prefect Tyron Peprah Frimpong, to steer the affairs of the student body for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The school held its annual prefectship handing-over ceremony, during which the new leaders took the oath of office. The elections, conducted a few weeks ago on the school premises, recorded a high voter turnout as students enthusiastically selected leaders of their choice. This marks the third time the school has formally inaugurated a student leadership team.
Deputy Head of KNUST Junior High School, Mr. Eric Oti Attah, opened the ceremony with a warm and encouraging address. He congratulated the newly elected prefects and urged them to promote the use of proper English among students to enhance communication skills and academic performance.
“Winning has become synonymous with KNUST. Speaking the right language, precisely English will help you pass your Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE),” he remarked.
Mr. Attah also extended heartfelt appreciation to the teaching staff who contributed to the successful organization of the elections, including members of the Electoral Commission, vetting team, and IT staff responsible for e-voting and result collation.
In his inaugural speech, newly elected Head Prefect Tyron Peprah Frimpong expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and his fellow prefects. He paid tribute to the outgoing prefects for their leadership and commitment.
“I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to the prefects who came before us. You laid a solid foundation and set a high standard of discipline, leadership, and service. You served not for applause but to uplift this school,” he said.
On behalf of his team, he pledged to continue the good work of their predecessors and address challenges with determination, creativity, and teamwork.
“The badge we wear is not just a symbol of authority but a symbol of service. You have not been chosen above others but to serve alongside them,” he emphasized. “Let us lead by example, act with fairness, and work with humility.”
